Not to mention balloons.

iceland’s geothermic pools and black sand beaches call forth stunning compositions from thin air. both are created by the island’s constant volcanic activity.

“Duo Barazz makes it great to be alive!
”If you haven’t heard the dynamic Duo Barazz with Dorthe Højland on saxophones and organist Lára Bryndís Eggertsdóttir, be sure to write down the duo’s name. Those of us who have been lucky enough to hear them live are just waiting for the next opportunity to hear them arrive. Duo Barazz masters the art of performing top quality music and vocals full of humor and spiced up by surprises. Duo Barazz has put a new twist on the typical church concert by inspiring every single audience member to let down their hair and enjoy life.”

Hallgrims church wrote: Today’s Duo BARAZZ lunchtime concert at Orgelsumri i Hallgrímskirkja was captivating for the packed house — tourists and locals alike. Organist Lára Bryndís Eggerstsdóttir and saxophonist Dorthe Højland brought concert-goers on a whirlwind tour through musical landscapes. The final number, “Salme for fred” (Psalm for Peace), was a Dorthe Højland original composed on 24 February, 2022, the day Russia invaded Ukraine. In all secrecy, the duo had arranged for poet Einar Már Guðmundsson to make a guest appearance. Guðmundsson recited his 2019 poem “Til hvem det måtte vedrøre” (To whom it may concern) while DuoBarazz played the psalm. What a gift! We were blown away by this concert and simply can’t thank the duo enough for sharing this experience with us.
Salme for fred / Psalm for Peace
The Icelandic award-winning writer and poet Einar Már Guðmundsson recites his poem “XV” to Dorthe Højland’s “Salme for fred” (Psalm For Peace), composed 24 February, 2022, the day war broke out in Europe.
"Ég slekk á fréttunum. Ég slekk á fréttunum í miðju striði og bið um frið." / "I turn off the news. I turn off the news in the middle of war and ask for peace."
The song is followed by an encore improvisation over the Icelandic psalm “Heyr Himna Smiður”.
Heilaga móðir alls sem er / Holy Mother
This beautiful psalm “Heilaga móðir alles sem er” was composed by Lára Bryndís Eggertsdóttir and based on a hymn by Hallveig Thorlacius.
